It is not yet a reality, but researchers are hoping to develop a phone that will not only save patients time in a waiting room, but additionally detect certain DNA associations with cancer. According to a paper published inside the German journal Angewandte Chemie, Korean research scientists at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology are hoping to do all of this by permitting patients to touch their smartphones screen .
The concept started with the mere notion that most touch phones already read the electronic charges from the body. If they can do this, then the hope is that phone developers and scientists can produce a phone that reads proteins and DNA because they carry specific charges.
Hyun-gyu Park, who helped to lead the study with Byong-yeon Won, said, “We have confirmed that (touch screens) are able to recognize DNA molecules with nearly 100 % accuracy just like large, conventional medical equipment can, and we believe equal results are possible for proteins.”
The scientists recognize that not all tests can be done by simply having certain proteins and their DNA read. This is why they are hoping to develop a certain film that could be inserted into the phone for tests to be completed. This film could be to test a blood or urine sample. This is to permit the touch phone to be able to recognize different “biomolecular materials”.
This degree of touch phone is great in theory, but so far it is a puzzle when work will be done to get something such as this to the public. Though, there has been developments made on smartphones that will detect cancer cells by a mere touch. This phone was developed by researchers from Harvard and MIT. The phone works as a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), which is much like an MRI machine, and if it functions as promised can detect cancer cells within an hours time.
The phone not only works quickly but is also affordable. Researchers suggest after the parts it would only cost around $200. In Science Translational Magazine studies were published that demonstrated that this phone works more effectively than most of the tests doctors use to discover if patients have cancer.
With one phone already developed and a more complex version being pursued, some people will probably find that they will not have to wait in doctor’s office for hours to get a diagnosis. This should give hope for the advancement of medicine and in many cases curing cancer in the foreseeable future. Early detection is a vital part of cancer treatment, and these types of technologies are helping in the fight.

Nadya Suleman took her octuplets out for a lot of fun to celebrate, hitting up the Seascape Kids Fun venue in Los Angeles. Looks like a good time was had, except perhaps by the random paparazzi guys creeping in the background.
Suleman’s octuplets are Noah, Maliyah, Isaiah, Nariah, Makai, Josiah, Jeremiah and Jonah.
Her other kids are Elijah Makai, Amerah Yasmeen, Joshua Jacob, Aiden, Calyssa Airelle and Caleb Kai. Yes, which makes 14 kids and no jobs in all.

LMFAO will join Madonna onstage during the Super Bowl halftime show, reported by Will.i.am.
The Black Eyed Peas singer, who manages the duo under his label Will.i.am Music Group, revealed the news during a radio interview with Capital FM on Thursday.
Will.i.am announced, “I’m going to the Super Bowl this year to see my group LMFAO perform with Madonna.”
The singer, who headlined last year’s halftime show together with the Black Eyed Peas, added, “Check that out, Will.i.am Music Group is pretty freaking two for two. One year the Super Bowl the following year another group part of the Super Bowl together with Madonna.”
